Chapter 10 - The Dynasty of the Sun

One year later.
The sun was setting over the private cliffside estate in Amalfi, Italy, casting a warm canopy of gold, rose, and violet across the sparkling Mediterranean Sea.
The terraced gardens were filled with the scent of blooming lemon trees, fresh sea air, and stone-baked pizza.
On the wide marble veranda, Mateo sat in a state-of-the-art motorized wheelchair, watching the sunset through pair of binoculars, pointing out dolphins swimming in the bay to a team of Italian nurses who cared for him with deep respect and affection.
His speech had improved significantly through advanced physical therapy; he could now utter short, clear sentences with his own voice.
"Look... Lorenzo!" Mateo called out softly, pointing at the water. "Dolphins!"
Lorenzo walked out onto the veranda wearing a casual white linen shirt and dark trousers, holding a glass of aged red wine. He looked relaxed, the cold, ruthless lines of his face softened by peace and absolute fulfillment.
He walked over to his brother, resting a heavy hand on Mateo’s shoulder. "I see them, brother. Beautiful."
The glass terrace doors opened, and Lydia stepped out into the warm evening breeze.
She wore a soft, yellow summer dress that flowed around her lush body like sunshine. Her dark hair fell over her shoulders in loose waves, and her hazel eyes were bright with an radiant glow.
In her arms, she held a three-month-old baby boy—wrapped in a soft cashmere blanket.
Arthur Moretti. Named after Lydia’s late brother.
Lorenzo turned around, his grey eyes softening into pure adoration as he walked toward his wife and son.
He wrapped his arm around Lydia’s waist, pulling her flush against his side, leaning down to press a soft kiss against her lips, before kissing the tiny, dark-haired head of their sleeping son.
"Is he sleeping?" Lorenzo whispered softly.
"He just fell asleep," Lydia smiled, leaning her head against Lorenzo’s shoulder as they stood looking out over the Mediterranean Sea. "He has your chin, Lorenzo. He's going to be stubborn."
"He has his mother's heart," Lorenzo replied, taking Lydia’s ringed hand into his, kissing her knuckles. "And that makes him invincible."
Mateo rolled his wheelchair over to join them, looking down at his small nephew with wide, loving eyes. "My... general," Mateo whispered with a proud grin.
Lydia laughed softly, a rich, musical sound that filled the warm Italian night.
Six years ago, she had been a grieving sister, hiding her face, sweeping floors in a cold Chicago mansion, believing her life was over.
Now, she stood on a cliffside in Italy as the beloved Donna of a global empire, holding her son, surrounded by the brother she had saved and the king who worshipped the very ground she walked upon.
Lorenzo looked at his wife, pulling her closer into his arms as the stars began to twinkle over the dark blue ocean.
"I love you, Lydia," he whispered into her hair.

"I love you, Lorenzo," she answered, resting her head against his chest, listening to the strong, steady beat of his heart.
And there, beneath the warm Italian sky, the King and his Queen watched their dynasty begin.
