Chapter 10 - The New Foundation

Six months later.
The grand auditorium of the Vale Renewable Energy Global Headquarters in downtown Manhattan was packed to capacity with over eight hundred journalists, industry leaders, and international diplomats.
Massive high-definition screens behind the main stage displayed the glowing blueprints for the next-generation clean-energy grid—a revolutionary, tamper-proof micro-grid system designed to provide decentralized, green electricity to over fifty million homes across the nation.
Standing at the podium in a tailored ivory suit, her dark hair styled in a sleek professional bob, was Aaliyah Grant.
"Safety is not the absence of risk," Aaliyah’s voice echoed clearly through the state-of-the-art sound system, captivating the entire audience. "Safety is the presence of integrity. It is the refusal to compromise human life, transparency, and truth for the sake of speed, profit, or power."
She gestured toward the main screen, where the technical safety protocols flashed in crisp gold lettering.
"Every node, every circuit, and every line of code in this new grid has been audited from the ground up," Aaliyah declared with absolute confidence. "Not by politicians or corporate lobbyists... but by independent engineers who answer only to the truth."
The audience erupted into standing ovation! Thunderous applause echoed through the vast auditorium as journalists snapped photos, flashbulbs illuminating the stage like brilliant stars.
In the front row, holding six-year-old Julian on his lap, sat Sebastian Vale.
He was clapping enthusiastically, his dark eyes shining with immense pride and an unyielding, deep devotion as he watched the woman on stage. Beside him sat Mrs. Whitfield, wearing an elegant blue dress and a small gold brooch shaped like a hydraulic excavator—a personal gift from Sebastian.
As Aaliyah stepped back from the podium, Sebastian stood up, hand-in-hand with Julian, and walked up the side stairs to join her on stage.
The crowd cheered louder as Sebastian took the secondary microphone.
"Three years ago," Sebastian said, his voice echoing warmly over the speakers, "I built a company because I wanted to change the world's energy. But six months ago, I realized that power without integrity is just an explosion waiting to happen."
He looked at Aaliyah, stepping right beside her, placing his hand gently on the small of her back.
"Aaliyah Grant saved my life, my family, and this company," Sebastian said into the microphone, his voice thick with raw emotion. "She taught me that the most powerful force on earth isn't electricity, money, or technology. It's the courage to stand up for what's right when everyone else is sitting down."
He turned to Aaliyah, pulling a small black velvet box from his inner jacket pocket.
The entire auditorium fell into a sudden, breathless hush. Hundreds of cameras zoomed in on the stage.
Aaliyah gasped slightly, her hand flying to her mouth as Sebastian lowered himself onto one knee on the polished wooden floor of the auditorium stage.
He opened the velvet box, revealing a breathtaking, flawless yellow diamond ring that sparkled like the morning sun.
"Aaliyah," Sebastian said, looking up into her eyes with total, complete love. "Six months ago, you threw yourself across a ballroom to tackle me out of danger. You fought through air ducts, halon gas, and armed traitors to give me a second chance at life."
He took a deep, steadying breath. "I don't ever want to face a disaster without you by my side. Will you marry me?"
Aaliyah looked down at the man who had transformed from an arrogant billionaire tycoon into her fiercest protector, her partner, and the love of her life.
She looked at little Julian in the front row, waving his stuffed elephant excitedly, and at Mrs. Whitfield giving a firm, decisive nod of approval.
Tears of pure happiness spilled down Aaliyah's cheeks as she smiled—a brilliant, radiant smile that captured every camera in the room.
"Yes, Sebastian," Aaliyah whispered into the microphone, her voice carrying across the entire hall. "Yes! Absolutely yes!"
Sebastian stood up, sliding the yellow diamond ring onto her finger before pulling her into a passionate, deep embrace, lifting her slightly off her feet as the entire auditorium broke into a deafening, joyful roar of applause!
