PART 2: MY FATHER’S LAST WARNING TO MICHAEL

The moment my father heard my voice…

He knew something was wrong.

My father, Alexander Sterling, had spent forty years building an empire.

He had negotiated billion-dollar deals.

He had faced ruthless competitors.

He had survived betrayal from business partners.

But there was one thing he never learned to handle calmly.

Hearing his daughter in pain.

“Sophia?”

His voice immediately changed.

The powerful CEO disappeared.

And the father appeared.

“What happened?”

I tried to answer.

But my throat closed.

I looked down at my hands.

At the blood.

At the floor.

At everything Michael had done.

“I’m hurt.”

A silence followed.

A dangerous silence.

Because my father knew me.

He knew I wasn’t someone who asked for help easily.

Not even from him.

“What do you mean, you’re hurt?”

My voice shook.

“Michael pushed me.”

The line went quiet.

For three seconds.

Four.

Five.

Then I heard my father breathe.

Slowly.

Carefully.

Like he was controlling something inside himself.

“Where are you?”

“Our house.”

“I’m coming.”

“Dad…”

“No.”

His voice became firm.

“You stay awake.”

I closed my eyes.

“I’m tired.”

“No.”

That one word carried the same authority that made entire companies listen to him.

“You listen to me, Sophia.”

“Keep talking.”

“Stay with me.”

So I did.

I told him everything.

The clinic.

Brooke.

The pregnancy.

The betrayal.

The moment Michael carried her away while I was on the floor.

My father listened.

He didn’t interrupt.

He didn’t ask questions.

But I knew.

The silence meant his anger was growing.

Finally, he asked:

“Is the baby moving?”

I placed my hand on my stomach.

At first…

Nothing.

And that terrified me.

“Dad…”

“Wait.”

I waited.

One second.

Two.

Then…

A small movement.

A kick.

My breath escaped.

“Yes.”

I started crying.

“He moved.”

My father exhaled.

“Good.”

A pause.

“Stay focused.”

Twenty minutes later, the front door opened.

But it wasn’t Michael.

It was my father.

Behind him were paramedics.

And two security officers.

The moment he saw me…

His face changed.

I had seen my father angry before.

But never like this.

He walked toward me slowly.

Carefully.

Like I was something fragile.

Not because I was weak.

Because he loved me.

“Oh, sweetheart…”

Those were the only words he said.

Then he knelt beside me.

His expensive suit touched the floor.

He didn’t care.

He held my hand.

“I’m here.”

The paramedics examined me immediately.

The entire time, my father stayed beside me.

When they lifted me onto the stretcher, I looked at him.

“Dad.”

“Yes?”

“Don’t do anything stupid.”

For a moment…

He almost smiled.

Almost.

Then he looked toward the empty house.

The house where my husband had abandoned me.

“I can’t promise that.”

The hospital confirmed the baby was stable.

But they kept me overnight for observation.

High-risk pregnancy.

Possible complications.

Stress-related concerns.

The doctor was kind.

But I barely heard anything.

My mind was somewhere else.

With Michael.

With the question I couldn’t escape.

How could someone who loved me do this?

Around midnight…

My phone started ringing.

Michael.

I stared at the screen.

My father noticed.

“Don’t answer.”

I looked at him.

“But I need to know what he wants.”

My father’s expression hardened.

“No.”

“He abandoned you.”

“He left you bleeding.”

“He doesn’t get access to you because he suddenly feels guilty.”

I looked at the phone.

It kept ringing.

Then stopped.

A few seconds later…

A message appeared.

Michael: Where are you?

Another one.

Michael: Mom said you’re overreacting.

Another.

Michael: We need to talk.

I laughed quietly.

Not because it was funny.

Because it was unbelievable.

We need to talk.

As if this was a disagreement.

Not betrayal.

Not violence.

Not abandonment.

My father saw the messages.

His jaw tightened.

“What does he think happened?”

I didn’t answer.

Because I didn’t know.

Maybe Michael truly believed I would forgive him.

Maybe he believed I was still the same woman who accepted every apology.

Every excuse.

Every broken promise.

But that woman was gone.

The next morning…

Michael arrived at the hospital.

Without permission.

Without shame.

He walked into my room like he belonged there.

Like he was still my husband.

“Sophia.”

I looked at him.

The man standing there looked different.

Not because he changed.

Because I finally saw him clearly.

He looked tired.

Worried.

Afraid.

But I didn’t feel sorry for him.

“What are you doing here?”

His eyes moved to my father.

Then back to me.

“We need to talk.”

My father stood.

“No.”

Michael looked offended.

“This is between me and my wife.”

My father stepped closer.

“No.”

His voice was calm.

“That stopped being true when you put my daughter in a hospital bed.”

Michael froze.

For the first time…

He looked afraid.

“Mr. Sterling, I—”

My father raised his hand.

“Don’t.”

The room went silent.

“You will not explain yourself to me.”

A pause.

“You will listen.”

Michael swallowed.

My father continued.

“I gave you a career.”

“I gave you a company position.”

“I trusted you with my family.”

His eyes became cold.

“And you confused kindness with weakness.”

Michael looked at me.

“Sophia, I made a mistake.”

I stared at him.

“A mistake?”

His face fell.

“I—”

“You cheated on me.”

A pause.

“You lied.”

Another.

“You left me bleeding.”

His mouth opened.

Nothing came out.

Because there was no excuse.

Not even from him.

Then he said the one thing I never expected.

“I love you.”

I almost laughed.

Because love without respect was just a word.

“You love me?”

I looked at him.

“Then why did you protect her?”

Silence.

“Why did you carry her?”

“Why did you leave me?”

His eyes filled.

But I didn’t look away.

Because I needed him to understand.

The damage was done.

My father stepped toward the door.

“Michael.”

He turned.

“This conversation is over.”

Michael looked confused.

“You can’t do this.”

My father’s expression didn’t change.

“Do what?”

“You’re trying to ruin my career.”

“No.”

My father looked at him.

“I’m protecting my daughter.”

Then he said the words that changed everything.

“Your position at Sterling Enterprises is suspended effective immediately.”

Michael went pale.

“You can’t.”

My father stared at him.

“I created your opportunity.”

A pause.

“I can remove it.”

Michael’s voice became desperate.

“Mr. Sterling, please.”

But my father was done.

The man who had once given Michael everything…

Was now taking it away.

Michael left the hospital looking smaller than I had ever seen him.

But I knew something.

This wasn’t the end.

Because Michael wasn’t the only one who betrayed me.

There was Brooke.

There was Eleanor.

And there was still one question burning in my mind.

Why did they bring Brooke into my home?

Why now?

Why while I was pregnant?

The answer came three days later.

And when I discovered it…

I realized the betrayal was far bigger than an affair.

They weren’t just trying to replace me.

They were trying to erase me.

May you like

And they had no idea…

I was about to make them regret everything.
