Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Wall

Late that night, long after the last guests had departed and the mansion had fallen into a quiet, peaceful stillness.
Eva and Roman walked along the stone path near the outdoor gardens, hand in hand under a brilliant canopy of spring stars.
A soft, cool breeze rustled through the maple trees, carrying the sweet scent of blooming jasmine and fresh grass.
They stopped near the edge of the stone terrace, looking out over the moonlit valley below.
Eva leaned her head against Roman’s shoulder, her hand resting over his heart, listening to its steady, strong rhythm.
“Do you ever think about that night, Roman?” she asked softly, looking up at the bright silver moon.
Roman turned his head, kissing her forehead, his arms wrapping around her waist, holding her close against the night cold.
“I think about it every single day,” Roman whispered into the quiet night air. “I think about how close I came to losing everything. And how a single sound changed my life forever.”
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box.
He opened it.
Inside rested a magnificent diamond ring, set in platinum, crafted in the intricate shape of an open archway surrounded by tiny, sparkling emeralds.
“No steel doors, Eva,” Roman whispered, his voice thick with raw, beautiful emotion as he looked into her eyes. “No hidden walls. Just an open door for the rest of our lives. Will you marry me?”
Tears of pure, radiant joy filled Eva’s eyes as a warm smile lit her face.

“Yes, Roman,” she breathed, slipping her arms around his neck, pulling him down into a deep, passionate kiss that sealed their new life together. “Yes.”
And behind them, Hallowmere Manor stood bathed in the warm, silver starlight—its walls no longer hiding panic, shadows, or secrets, but glowing bright, open, and unbroken forever.
