Chapter 6 - Trapped in the Fog
"Miller is on site," I ordered instantly into the comms. "All teams, move into perimeter positions. Do not engage until I enter."
I opened the SUV door, stepping out into the freezing fog, pulling a silenced pistol from my shoulder holster.
Inside the warehouse, Sam Miller stepped out of the shadows, dressed in a camel-hair coat, holding a glass of whiskey. He looked down at Maya with cold disdain.
"Did you really think Daniel Foster wouldn't notice a missing crate on his own dock?" Miller laughed softly. "You played your part, little girl. But Foster is too smart. He tracked the shipment the moment it cleared the gate."
"I don't know what you're talking about!" Maya cried out, stepping backward toward the door. "Just give me the papers for Lily's medicine!"
"There are no papers, Maya," Miller said smoothly, gesturing to his guards. "There never was a $2,800 debt. Apex Pharmacy belongs to my holding company. We generated those fake bills to manipulate you into giving us access to Foster's private terminal."
Maya gasped in horror. "You... you lied to me..."
"Business is about leverage, my dear," Miller sneered, raising his hand. "And now that Foster knows about the missing crate, you're a liability. Vance, dispose of her and throw the body in the river. We'll frame Foster's security team for the murder."
Vance stepped forward, drawing a weapon with a suppressor.
BANG.
The heavy steel side door of the warehouse blew inward off its hinges as Marcus's tactical team breached the facility with flashbang grenades. A blinding white light and deafening roar filled the bay.
Before Vance could react, I stepped through the smoke, raising my weapon and firing two rounds into Vance’s shoulder. He dropped his gun with a scream, crashing onto the concrete floor.

Miller stumbled back in terror, spilling his whiskey across his coat. "Foster?!"
"Hello, Sam," I said, my voice echoing like death through the cavernous warehouse. "I believe you're in possession of property belonging to my firm. And an employee of mine."
