PART 3: The Woman Who Built the Lie

Ashley was waiting when Michael arrived home.
She was sitting in the living room.
Perfect hair.
Perfect dress.
Perfect smile.
Like nothing had happened.
“You disappeared.”
Michael looked at her.
“You lied.”
Her smile faded slightly.
“What?”
He threw the files onto the table.
Hospital records.
Videos.
Bank statements.
Her face changed.
Only for a second.
But Michael saw it.
“You framed her.”
Ashley stood.
“Michael—”
“You destroyed my marriage.”
She took a breath.
Then surprisingly…
She laughed.
“You finally figured it out.”
The confession shocked him.
“You’re not even denying it?”
“Why should I?”
She walked closer.
“You were easy.”
His jaw tightened.
“What?”
“You wanted someone to blame.”
She smiled.
“And Emily was always too kind.”
Michael felt sick.
“You made me hate her.”
“No.”
Ashley shook her head.
“You chose to.”
That sentence cut deeper.
Because it was true.
Ashley continued.
“You think you’re better than everyone because you have money.”
She pointed at him.
“But you’re just as selfish as the rest.”
Michael said nothing.
Because some part of him knew she was right.
“I needed your company,” Ashley said.
“Your inheritance.”
“Your name.”
She smiled.
“And Emily was in the way.”
The police arrived minutes later.
Because David had already sent everything.
Ashley was arrested.
The woman who destroyed a family finally lost control of the story.
But Michael knew one thing.

The hardest part was not defeating Ashley.
