PART 2 — The Betrayal

“Don Ernesto?”

The voice echoed through the living room.

It was Rodrigo.

His trusted security consultant.

A man who had protected him for ten years.

For a moment, hope returned.

Maybe he wasn’t alone.

Maybe someone would finally see the truth.

But before Don Ernesto could speak, Renata suddenly lifted the pitcher.

And poured the entire contents over his head.

Cold water soaked his white hair, his shirt, and his trembling hands.

The pitcher crashed onto the floor.

Then Renata covered her mouth.

And screamed.

“Help! Don Ernesto attacked me!”

The old man froze.

His mind struggled to understand what was happening.

He was still kneeling.

Still holding the towel.

Still exactly where she had forced him to be.

Rodrigo walked in.

His eyes moved across the room.

The broken pitcher.

The basin.

The wet floor.

The old man on his knees.

Don Ernesto waited for anger.

For shock.

For protection.

Instead, Rodrigo slowly closed the front door behind him.

The lock clicked.

A terrible silence filled the room.

“Rodrigo…” Don Ernesto whispered.

The man looked at him.

And there was no surprise in his eyes.

Only calculation.

“I'm sorry, Don Ernesto.”

The words felt worse than any insult.

“Sorry?”

Rodrigo sighed.

“You were always too trusting.”

Don Ernesto felt his heart sink.

“You were part of this?”

Rodrigo didn’t answer immediately.

And that silence was the answer.

Renata wiped away fake tears.

“See? This is exactly what I told you.”

She looked at Rodrigo.

“He’s confused. He doesn’t even know what’s real anymore.”

Don Ernesto stared at both of them.

The two people standing in front of him were not strangers.

They were people he had trusted.

People he had protected.

People he had helped.

And they had been preparing to destroy him.

“What do you want?” he asked.

Renata smiled.

“Everything.”

She walked toward the table.

“Your house. Your accounts. Your company shares.”

She leaned closer.

“And most importantly… control over Javier.”

Don Ernesto shook his head.

“You think money will make you happy?”

Renata laughed.

“No.”

She looked at him coldly.

“But power will.”

Rodrigo placed a folder on the table.

Don Ernesto recognized the documents immediately.

The legal papers Javier had asked him to sign.

His stomach turned.

“This was never about marriage,” he whispered.

Renata smiled.

“Finally, you understand.”

At that moment, Don Ernesto realized something even worse.

Javier wasn’t just being manipulated.

He was involved.
