PART 4 — The Truth Marissa Buried

The hospital security team arrived within minutes.

Daniel stood beside Noah’s bed, unable to move.

His son had begged him for help.

And he had called him dramatic.

He looked at Marissa.

The woman he married.

The woman he trusted.

“Explain.”

Her face was pale now.

Not scared.

Caught.

“I don’t know how that happened.”

Evelyn stepped forward.

“Yes, you do.”

Everyone turned.

Evelyn pointed at the broken cast.

“This wasn’t an accident.”

Daniel’s voice lowered.

“What are you saying?”

She looked at him.

“Someone put it there after the injury.”

Silence.

Then she added:

“And whoever did it knew nobody would question them.”

Daniel felt sick.

Because only a few people had access to Noah.

Only a few people were around when the cast was applied.

Marissa.

His stomach turned.

“No…”

But the evidence was already there.

Security footage showed Marissa entering Noah’s room after the hospital visit.

Alone.

The police found messages on her phone.

Messages about “teaching the boy a lesson.”

Messages about making him “stop being difficult.”

Daniel stared at her.

“How could you?”

For the first time, Marissa looked angry instead of afraid.

“Because he ruined everything.”

Everyone froze.

“He looked at me like I wasn’t his mother.”

Daniel whispered:

“He’s a child.”

Marissa laughed bitterly.

“And you always chose him.”

That was the moment Daniel understood.

She never wanted to be a mother.

She wanted control.

Weeks later, Noah’s arm healed.

The doctors said he would recover completely.

But Daniel never forgot that night.

Because the most dangerous monsters were not always strangers outside the door.

Sometimes they wore expensive clothes.

Sometimes they smiled for photographs.

Sometimes they called themselves family.

And sometimes…

the smallest voice in the room was the only one telling the truth.
