PART 4 : End

For a few seconds, nobody moved.

Not even Victoria.

The woman who had controlled every room she entered, who had destroyed people with a smile and a carefully chosen sentence, now stood completely still.

Because for the first time in twenty years…

She was afraid.

Lily slowly stood up from the floor.

Her cheek still burned.

Her heart still hurt.

But something inside her had changed.

Twenty years of searching.

Twenty years of unanswered questions.

Twenty years of wondering why her father disappeared.

And now she finally knew.

He hadn’t abandoned her.

He had been stolen from her.

“Dad,” Lily whispered again.

This time, Arthur didn’t stop her.

He looked at her, and the pain in his eyes was almost unbearable.

“I heard every birthday message you sent,” he said quietly.

Lily froze.

“What?”

Arthur looked toward the window.

“After I became Arthur Sterling, I found old records. Old addresses. A few pieces of my past.”

His voice became rough.

“I found your mother’s letters.”

Lily’s eyes filled.

“You knew?”

“I knew your name.”

A tear fell down his face.

“But I didn’t know how to come back.”

“Why?”

The question came out broken.

“Why didn’t you find me?”

Arthur closed his eyes.

“Because every time I tried, someone reminded me of what would happen.”

His hand tightened.

“They threatened your mother.”

Lily stopped breathing.

“My mother?”

Arthur nodded.

“They told me if I went back to Daniel Carter’s life, they would destroy both of you.”

The room felt colder.

Victoria whispered:

“You should have stayed buried.”

Everyone turned.

Arthur’s expression changed instantly.

The sadness disappeared.

The billionaire returned.

But this time, Lily saw the man behind it.

The father.

“You knew they were watching me,” Arthur said.

Victoria said nothing.

“You knew everything.”

Her silence was enough.

Lily stared at her.

“You helped them.”

Victoria laughed softly.

“I helped myself.”

Her voice changed.

“You have no idea what Daniel Carter was like. He was brilliant, yes. But he was weak.”

Arthur’s eyes narrowed.

“He loved his family.”

Victoria shrugged.

“And look where that got him.”

The words landed like a knife.

Lily stepped forward.

“You took him away from me.”

Victoria looked at her.

“You were a child. You would have forgotten him.”

Lily’s voice shook.

“No.”

A pause.

“I never did.”

That sentence hurt Victoria more than any accusation.

Because it was true.

For twenty years, Arthur Sterling had built an empire.

But a little girl had kept the memory of Daniel Carter alive.

The storm outside exploded with thunder.

Then suddenly—

CRASH.

The lights went out.

The mansion fell into darkness.

Victoria gasped.

“What happened?”

Arthur immediately moved.

Not toward Victoria.

Toward Lily.

He grabbed her hand.

“Stay behind me.”

For the first time in her life, Lily saw fear on her father’s face.

Not fear for himself.

Fear for her.

“Security!” Arthur shouted.

No answer.

The mansion remained silent.

Too silent.

Then a voice came from the hallway.

“Arthur.”

A slow clap echoed through the darkness.

Everyone froze.

A man stepped into the doorway.

Older.

Gray-haired.

Calm.

And smiling.

Arthur’s face went pale.

“No.”

Lily looked at him.

“Who is that?”

Arthur whispered:

“The man who destroyed my life.”

The stranger smiled.

“Hello, Daniel.”

Arthur’s hands clenched.

“You’re supposed to be dead.”

The man laughed.

“So were you.”

Victoria stepped forward.

“You said nobody would find us.”

The stranger looked at her.

“Victoria, after twenty years, you still underestimate how dangerous desperate people become.”

Lily felt her stomach tighten.

There was more.

So much more.

Arthur looked at the man.

“Why are you here?”

The stranger’s eyes moved to Lily.

And he smiled.

“Because she has something you never knew existed.”

Lily stepped back.

“What?”

The man pulled out a small black folder.

Inside was a photograph.

A photograph of Lily’s mother.

And beside her…

A second child.

A baby.

Arthur stared.

His face drained of color.

“That’s impossible.”

The stranger smiled.

“You thought your daughter was your only child?”

Lily’s heart stopped.

Arthur looked at her.

Then back at the picture.

“No…”

The man walked closer.

“Daniel Carter didn’t disappear with only one secret.”

The storm raged outside.

The mansion shook.

And Lily realized something terrifying.

Finding her father had only been the beginning.

May you like

Because the truth she had spent twenty years searching for…

Was only half of the story.
