Chapter 3 - The Call to Arms

The hangar was located fifteen miles outside the city limits, hidden behind a row of abandoned industrial warehouses. To the passing observer, it was nothing more than a rusting monument to the city’s manufacturing past. But inside, the space was a temple of high-tech tactical operations.
Colonel Jonathan Miller stood at the center of a massive steel table, his hands resting on a map of the Sterling family's private, sixty-acre estate. He was a man in his late fifties, with cropped grey hair, sharp green eyes, and the rigid, unyielding posture of a lifelong military commander.
As Marcus walked through the heavy security door, five men stood up from their chairs. They were the members of Marcus’s former elite Special Forces A-Team—men who had bled together, survived ambush after ambush, and trusted each other with their lives in the darkest corners of the world.
First Sergeant Marcus Vance (The Leader): A master of tactical warfare, siege operations, and psychological intimidation.
Master Sergeant Jack "Reaper" Callahan (The Sniper): A silent assassin who could place a round through a keyhole from a mile away.
Sergeant First Class David "Ghost" Thorne (The Tech Expert): A digital ghost who could bypass any security network, freeze bank accounts, and intercept encrypted transmissions.
Sergeant First Class Hector "Doc" Morales (The Medic): A veteran combat medic who had kept Marcus alive more times than he could count.
Staff Sergeant Connor "Breacher" Hayes (The Heavy): An explosives and physical breach specialist who could dismantle any physical barrier in seconds.
"First Sergeant," Colonel Miller said, offering a crisp, respectful nod. "We’ve been briefed on the situation. The audio recording you sent over... it’s damning. But you know as well as I do that the local authorities won't touch them. The Sterlings have deep roots in this state."
"I don't want the local authorities to touch them, Colonel," Marcus said, walking up to the table. He looked at the faces of his brothers-in-arms. "I want to dismantle them. Piece by piece. I want them to watch everything they built crumble around them, and I want them to know exactly why it's happening."
Jack Callahan let out a low, dangerous chuckle, leaning back in his chair. "You had me at 'dismantle,' Boss. I’ve been looking for an excuse to use the new Barrett. The Sterling boys think they're tough because they beat up a nine-year-old girl? Let's see how they handle a three-hundred-grain round at five hundred yards."
"No kinetic strikes unless absolutely necessary," Colonel Miller interrupted, his voice carrying the heavy weight of authority. "We are starting with something the Sterling family never saw coming. We are not going to give them the luxury of a quick, clean fight. We are going to expose them to the world first. We are going to strip away their protection, their money, and their dignity."
He looked at David Thorne. "Ghost. What do you have for us?"
Thorne tapped the screen of his rugged military laptop, projecting a massive, three-dimensional blueprint of the Sterling estate onto the wall.
"The Sterling mansion is a fortress," Thorne said, his fingers flying across the keyboard. "They have a state-of-the-art closed-circuit security system, motion sensors along the perimeter, and a private security team of twelve armed guards, mostly retired mercenary contractors. But they made one fatal mistake."
"What's that?" Connor Hayes asked, a vicious smile spreading across his broad face.
"They use a centralized, cloud-based server to store all their security footage," Thorne explained. "And the administrator of that server is Julian Sterling. He’s lazy. He uses the same password for his corporate accounts as he does for his personal security system. It took me forty-five seconds to breach their firewall."
Thorne paused, his expression turning incredibly grim.

"Marcus... while I was digging through their servers to find the footage of the night Lily was hurt, I stumbled across a hidden, double-encrypted directory labeled Project Horizon. I managed to crack the first layer of encryption. You need to see this."
He clicked a button, and an encrypted video file began to play on the screen.
