PART 2 — The Forged Truth

Alejandro stood between me and his mother.
Like a wall.
Like nothing could pass through him.
His eyes moved around the kitchen.
The hot iron.
The broken flowers on the floor.
The papers.
The fake evidence.
Everything.
He didn’t shout.
That was what scared me.
A man who screams can lose control.
But Alejandro was completely in control.
His hand reached for the documents.
The first pages were carefully arranged.
Fake medical reports.
Fake notes.
Fake records.
My heart sank as I read them.
“Elena shows signs of instability.”
“Possible paranoia.”
“Unable to safely care for a newborn.”
My hands shook.
Eight months.
Eight months of my life had been rewritten.
My pain.
My grief.
My pregnancy.
All turned into evidence against me.
Alejandro kept reading.
Then he reached the final page.
The military notification.
The letter that claimed he had been critically injured and unable to contact anyone.
The letter that made me believe I had lost my husband forever.
His fingers tightened.
He read it once.
Then again.
“This is fake.”
His voice was quiet.
But every word hit like thunder.
Victoria immediately stepped forward.
“Alejandro, sweetheart, you’re exhausted.”
She smiled nervously.
“You’ve been away too long. Elena has been struggling. She imagines things.”
Alejandro looked at her.
“Mother.”
One word.
But it stopped her.
“I know exactly what an official military document looks like.”
He lifted the letter.
“This is not one.”
Victoria’s face changed.
“Wrong format.”
“Wrong layout.”

“Wrong authentication markings.”
His expression hardened.
“You forged my death.”
The room froze.

For the first time…
Victoria looked afraid.
