Chapter 8 - The Dawn of Grace

Six months later.

Spring had arrived in Westchester. The frozen grounds of Greystone Manor had transformed into a sweeping tapestry of green velvet lawns, blooming cherry blossoms, and sunlit stone terraces overlooking the Hudson River.

The wrought-iron gates were open. The dark, ominous atmosphere that had hung over the estate for a decade was gone, replaced by the sound of classical music, open windows, and warm spring breezes.

On the south lawn, a large handmade wooden playpen sat beneath the shade of an ancient oak tree. Inside, seven-month-old Anthony and Lucia were sitting up on a plush blanket, happily babbling and playing with carved wooden rattle blocks.

Sitting on the grass beside them was Emma. She wore a soft lavender sundress, her chestnut hair braided loosely over her shoulder, her face glowing with health, peace, and radiant beauty.

Gabriel walked out from the terrace doors, dressed in a casual white linen shirt and dark trousers. He carried a wooden tray with two iced teas and a bowl of fresh strawberries.

The Don of New York—now the fully legitimate Chairman of Moretti Maritime & Logistics—sank down onto the grass beside Emma.

Anthony immediately crawled over to his father’s lap, grabbing Gabriel’s broad thumb with his chubby hand and pulling himself up onto his feet with a triumphant squeal.

Gabriel let out a rich, warm laugh, lifting his son into the air before pulling him against his chest. He looked over at Lucia, who was busily trying to chew on a wooden rattle that Emma had personally carved for her.

"The federal court finalized the asset forfeiture from Marcus’s shell companies this morning," Gabriel said softly, turning his dark eyes toward Emma. "Every cent—over two hundred million dollars—has been transferred into the Isabella & Grace Foundation for Pediatric Healthcare."

Emma looked up, her eyes filling with soft, beautiful tears. "The Grace Foundation?"

"Yes," Gabriel whispered, reaching out to take Emma’s hand in his. "It will fund free neonatal intensive care units across New York, so no mother ever has to watch her child suffer because she cannot afford help."

He pulled her hand to his lips, kissing her knuckles with profound, reverent tenderness.

"You brought life back to this house, Emma," Gabriel said, his voice deep and thick with emotion. "You saved my children. You saved me from turning into a monster. You gave us a home."

Emma smiled, leaning her head gently against his broad shoulder as the warm afternoon sun washed over them.

"We saved each other, Gabriel," she murmured softly.

Across the lawn, a soft breeze rustled through the blooming cherry trees, scattering white and pink petals across the green grass like snow.

In the peaceful silence of the spring afternoon, Emma looked up at the blue sky and felt a quiet, profound warmth settling deep within her heart.

Her daughter Grace was at peace.

And here, in the arms of the man who loved her, surrounded by the beautiful children who called her mother, Emma had finally found her sanctuary.
