Chapter 5 - The Princess of New York

Six months later.
The morning sun shone brightly over Central Park, turning the green trees into glittering gold.
In the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel—the very heart of New York high society—a magnificent celebration was taking place.
It was Ava Vale’s sixth birthday party.
The ballroom had been completely transformed into an enchanted starlit garden. Blossoming cherry trees lined the walls, soft silk banners hung from the ceilings, and a massive chocolate fountain cascaded down five tiers near a table filled with hand-crafted pastries.
There were no arrogant billionaires making speeches. There were no tax-deductible donation boxes.
Instead, the room was filled with dozens of happy children from local orphanages and children's hospitals—whom Elian had invited as honored guests, providing each child with fresh clothes, new toys, and full educational scholarships funded by the newly established Ava Vale Foundation.
In the center of the room stood Ava.
She looked radiant. Her dark, healthy curls bounced around her shoulders, her cheeks were rosy and full, and her big brown eyes sparkled with pure, radiant joy. She wore a simple, beautiful pastel-blue summer dress and white patent-leather shoes.
On her wrist, alongside her tarnished silver bracelet—which she had insisted on keeping as a reminder of her strength—sat a small, shining gold charm shaped like a tiny bird.
"Ava! Look at the balloon castle!" called out a little girl she had befriended earlier, waving frantically.
"I'm coming!" Ava laughed, her voice ringing out like silver bells across the room.
Sitting at a nearby private table, watching her play, was Elian Vale.
He wore a dark blue linen suit, his posture relaxed, his face completely transformed. The cold, ruthless mask of the "Frozen King" had vanished, replaced by the warm, proud expression of a father who had regained his purpose in life.
Dr. Evelyn Reed walked over, setting two cups of fresh coffee on the table.
"She looks incredible, Elian," Evelyn said softly, watching Ava laugh as a magician pulled a white dove from a silk hat. "Her weight is perfect, her developmental milestones are ahead of schedule, and she hasn't had a nightmare in three months."
"She is stronger than I ever was," Elian said softly, his eyes never leaving his daughter. "She endured three years of darkness, yet her heart remains pure light."
"And what about the Vance family?" Evelyn asked quietly.
Elian took a slow sip of his coffee. "The trial concluded yesterday. Claudia and her mother were sentenced to forty years in federal prison without parole. Their name has been erased from every board, record, and institution in the state. They no longer exist."
"And your business?"
Elian smiled—a real, genuine smile that would have shocked the global financial markets to their core. "I stepped down as active CEO of Vale Global last week. I appointed a board of directors to handle the daily operations. I only work four hours a day now."
Evelyn raised an eyebrow in surprise. "The great Frozen King... working part-time?"
"My full-time job is being her father," Elian said simply, his tone leaving no doubt that it was the greatest title he had ever held.
At that moment, Ava came running across the room, her small shoes clicking softly against the floor. Her face was flushed with excitement, a small spot of chocolate frosting sitting playfully on the tip of her tiny nose.
"Papa! Papa!" she cheered, throwing her small arms around his knee. "Did you see the magician? He made a real bird appear out of nowhere!"
Elian laughed—a rich, deep sound that echoed warmly through the room—and picked her up effortlessly into his arms, holding her high against his chest.
"A real bird?" Elian teased, gently wiping the chocolate off her nose with his thumb. "I think I already have the most precious little bird right here in my arms."
Ava giggled softly, wrapping her arms around his neck, leaning her head against his shoulder.
"I love you, Papa," she whispered into his ear.
Elian held his daughter tightly against his heart, looking out at the bright, sunlit room filled with music, laughter, and light.

"I love you too, my little bird," Elian whispered back, his voice filled with endless warmth. "Forever and always."
The dirty water of the past had washed away, leaving behind an unbreakable bond between a king and his princess—a love that no shadow could ever touch again.
