Chapter 10 - The Crown of Belladonna House

Six months later.

The summer evening over Belladonna House was painted in rich shades of purple, gold, and deep rose as the sun dipped beneath the western hills.

The grand ballroom—the very room where silver shears had once cut dark waves onto a cold floor—was filled with three hundred guests.

There were no corrupt syndicate bosses whispering in dark corners, no arrogant socialites sneering at the staff, and no hidden agendas. The guests included international maritime logistics leaders, local union heads, the entire domestic and security staff of Belladonna House, and legal representatives from across North America.

At the head of the room, set beneath the three grand iron chandeliers, stood an elevated dais decorated with white orchids and deep green vines.

Standing on the dais was Lucian Vale, looking devastatingly handsome in a custom dark navy tuxedo, his broad frame standing tall, his grey eyes locked entirely on the double mahogany doors at the rear of the hall.

The orchestra began playing a slow, magnificent arrangement of a classic string piece.

The double doors swung open.

Mara Vance walked into the room.

She wore a breathtaking gown of midnight-blue silk that hugged her curvy frame before flowing out into a quiet, elegant train behind her. Her short dark hair was styled into an exquisite, timeless bob that caught the golden light of the chandeliers, framing a face that radiated supreme, unshakeable confidence.

Around her neck hung a simple, ancient silver chain holding her grandmother’s sandalwood comb—a quiet tribute to the past that had guided her through the dark.

She walked down the marble aisle with her head held high, every eye in the room fixed upon her in absolute awe.

When she reached the dais, Lucian stepped down, reaching out his broad hand to take hers, his fingers wrapping around hers with a fierce, absolute warmth that made her heart soar.

The officiant, an elderly retired federal judge who had known Mara’s grandfather forty years earlier, smiled warmly at the couple.

“We are gathered here tonight,” the judge declared, his voice echoing clearly through the soaring hall, “to celebrate a union built not on corporate convenience, but on truth, justice, and an absolute devotion that withstands every storm.”

The judge looked at Lucian. “Lucian, do you take Mara to be your wedded wife, your equal partner, and the co-ruler of your estate?”

Lucian looked into Mara’s eyes, his voice rich, steady, and loud enough for every person in the hall to hear.

“I took her the moment I realized she was the true heart of this house,” Lucian said. “And I will hold her for every day I have left.”

The judge turned to Mara. “Mara, do you take Lucian to be your wedded husband, your equal partner, and the co-ruler of your estate?”

Mara smiled, her dark brown eyes shining with deep, unyielding love.

“I do, Lucian,” she whispered. “Always.”

“By the power vested in me,” the judge declared, “I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.”

Lucian did not hesitate.

He wrapped his broad arms around her waist, lifting her slightly off her feet, bringing his lips down onto hers in a deep, passionate kiss that sealed their legacy forever.

The three hundred guests in the grand ballroom erupted into wild, deafening applause, their cheers echoing up into the gilded frescoes of the high ceiling.

When Lucian finally lowered her back to the marble floor, he kept his arms wrapped tight around her waist, his forehead resting gently against hers as the orchestra played a triumphant finale.

“Welcome home, Mrs. Vale,” Lucian murmured against her lips.

Mara looked around the grand hall of her grandfather’s estate, feeling the warm, strong beating of her husband’s heart beneath her hands, completely whole, completely sovereign, and entirely free.

“I was always home, Lucian,” Mara whispered back, her voice full of quiet, absolute triumph. “Now, we rule it.”
