Chapter 7 - The Boardroom Purge

Three days later. 9:00 a.m.

The primary boardroom on the thirtieth floor of Rollins Global Enterprises was packed to capacity. All fourteen members of the Board of Directors sat around the massive oval mahogany table, their faces dark, anxious, and pale.

The morning headlines were plastered across every major news network in Colorado: COLLEGE-TOWN EMBEZZLEMENT SCHEME UNRAVELS IN HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM: VP OF ROLLINS GLOBAL ARRESTED FOR MURDER AND FRAUD.

The board members were murmuring nervously, shuffling papers, waiting for the arrival of the emergency interim chair.

The heavy double oak doors of the boardroom swung open.

I walked into the room, dressed in a tailored crimson suit, holding my father's old leather briefcase in my right hand. Behind me walked Justin, looking sharp, composed, and steady, carrying two large black storage boxes filled with legal documents.

The board members went dead silent.

I walked to the head of the long mahogany table—the seat that had belonged to my father for twenty-five years, the seat Kenneth had tried so desperately to claim for himself.

I set the briefcase down, opened it, and pulled out a single sheet of embossed parchment.

"Good morning, members of the board," I said, my voice carrying an effortless authority that echoed off the glass walls overlooking the Denver skyline. "As of 8:00 AM today, the Probate Court of Eagle County has formally reinstated full voting control of the Rollins Family Estate to me as sole surviving heir."

I looked around the room, meeting the eyes of every single director. Two of them—Director Hayes and Director Vance—looked away nervously, unable to hold my gaze.

"Over the last seventy-two hours," I continued, "with the full cooperation of the IRS Criminal Division and the District Attorney's office, we have completed a total forensic audit of Rollins Global Enterprises."

I signaled to Justin, who stepped forward and distributed thick blue-bound reports to every director at the table.

"As you can see on page four," I said, "Kenneth Rollins' embezzlement scheme was not executed alone. He received active assistance from two members of this very board, who received wire transfers totaling $1.5 million in exchange for overlooking the altered construction ledgers in New Mexico."

Director Hayes stood up, his face flushed dark red. "This is outrageous! You can't come in here making accusations without—"

"Sit down, Harold," I interrupted, my voice dropping to a low, lethal register. "Federal marshals are currently standing outside the main lobby elevator. If you prefer to argue your case in front of a grand jury, you are welcome to step out right now."

Hayes blinked, swallowed hard, and slowly sank back into his chair, his hands shaking as he opened the blue folder.

"Effective immediately," I announced, resting my hands on the mahogany table, "Director Hayes and Director Vance are removed from the board for gross breach of fiduciary duty. Their shares are frozen under federal asset-seizure warrants."

I looked at the remaining eleven directors, who sat in absolute, stunned silence.

"Furthermore," I said, "by unanimous consent of the family trust, I am officially resuming my role as Chief Financial Officer, and I am recommending the appointment of Justin Rollins as interim Chief Executive Officer."

Marcus Vance stepped forward, holding a printed ballot. "We need a formal motion to confirm the appointments."

Old Director Sterling—my father's oldest friend on the board—stood up, his eyes shining with tears of relief and deep pride.

"I second the motion," Sterling said, looking at me with immense respect. "Welcome home, Sabrina. Your father would be proud."

Every single hand at the table went up in unanimous approval.
