Chapter 2 - The Eradication

Derek froze, his hand suspended in mid-air, caught between his own arrogance and his father's sudden, pathetic breakdown. "Dad, have you lost your mind? It's just Clara's useless uncle! He's an old man!"
Ray didn't wait for Derek to process the situation. The moment Derek's arm remained extended, Ray moved.
To the untrained eye, Ray didn't walk—he blurred. In less than a fraction of a second, the distance between them evaporated. Ray’s hand shot forward like a steel trap, grabbing Derek by the throat with exact, brutal symmetry—matching the exact placement of the bruises on my neck.
Derek let out a choked gasp as his feet lifted two inches off the linoleum floor. The gold pen dropped from his paralyzed fingers, clattering loudly against the ground. Derek clawed frantically at Ray’s wrist, but Ray’s forearm was like solid iron; not a single muscle quivered.
"You like putting hands on necks, boy?" Ray asked. His voice was flat, totally devoid of anger, which made it infinitely more terrifying. It was the voice of a butcher assessing a piece of meat.
"Stop... please..." Derek managed to squeak out, his face turning an unhealthy shade of purple, his eyes bulging as panic finally punctured his ego.
From the floor, Richard was crawling on his hands and knees, tears and sweat smearing his expensive tailored suit. "Sir! Please! Commander! He didn't know!" Richard sobbed, holding up trembling hands. "Vance Defense... we have clearance! We served the Department! Please, spare my son! Name your price! I'll give you whatever you want—money, stocks, immunity!"
Ray didn't even turn his head to look at Richard. "Your money is worthless in a sealed room, Vance. And your clearance doesn't extend to men who don't exist."
With a swift twist of his wrist, Ray slammed Derek down into the heavy medical armchair. Before Derek could scream, Ray’s open palm struck Derek’s chest directly over his sternum. A sickening crack echoed through the room as Derek's breath burst out of him in a violent spray of saliva. The blunt kinetic force paralyzed Derek's diaphragm, leaving him gasping silently, writhing in agony, unable to draw in air or make a sound.
Ray leaned down, his cold blue eyes inches from Derek’s tear-filled face. "If you breathe too loud and wake my grand-niece," Ray whispered softly, "I will take your windpipe out through your neck."
Derek clamped his mouth shut, tears streaming down his flushed cheeks, shaking violently from absolute terror.
Ray turned around slowly, his boots making no sound as he walked toward Richard, who was backed tightly against the wall. The billionaire defense giant, a man who bought politicians and controlled private armies, was shaking so violently his teeth were clicking together.
"Richard Vance," Ray said calmly, stopping two feet away. "You built an empire selling weapons to the military. You think that makes you a soldier. You think your money buys you the right to let your spawn abuse my blood."
"No... no, Commander... please..." Richard wept, clutching his chest. "I'll grant Clara a divorce today! Full custody! I'll transfer half of the Vance holdings into her name! I'll make sure she and the baby are protected forever! Just let us walk out of here alive!"
Ray looked down at the weeping billionaire with quiet disgust. "You don't understand how this works, Vance. You don't bargain with a ghost."
Ray reached into his denim jacket pocket. For a brief, terrifying second, I thought he was going to pull out a combat knife. Instead, he pulled out a slim, customized encrypted satellite tablet. He dropped it onto Richard’s lap.
"You have five minutes," Ray said, his tone icy and precise. "Call your Chief Legal Officer and your Chief Financial Officer. Initiate a full, irrevocable asset transfer of all personal holdings, properties, and liquid funds under Derek Vance's name directly into an off-shore, blind family trust managed solely by Clara. Relinquish all parental rights Derek has over Maya, effective immediately."
Richard blinked, stunned. "And... and if I do that? You'll let us go?"
Ray’s lips curled into a tiny, terrifying smile. "If you do that, I won't crush your son's larynx right now. If you don't, I'll kill him, I'll kill you, and then I'll systematically erase every single person who carries the Vance surname from the global registry before the sun goes down."
Richard didn't hesitate for another second. He scrambled for the tablet with frantic, blood-slicked fingers, dialing the emergency line to his personal legal team.

I sat on the bed, holding Maya tight, watching the spectacle unfold. For three years, I had lived in fear of this family. I had endured Derek’s subtle emotional abuse that gradually escalated into physical violence once I became pregnant and isolated from my friends. I thought I was trapped in a gilded cage. But sitting here now, watching the legendary Vance family crumble into terrified insects before my quiet mechanic uncle, I realized I had never been the one in danger.
They were.
