Chapter 7 - The Private Dining Room Ambush

The meeting was set for 8:00 p.m. at The Iron Club—a private, highly exclusive dining venue located in the industrial waterfront district of South Chicago, owned by an old business associate of Arthur Dalton.

The rain was falling heavily again, sweeping across the dark waters of the Chicago River.

Mireia and Darius arrived in the matte-black Maybach, escorted by four dark SUVs filled with Villano Syndicate tactical operatives.

Inside the private room of The Iron Club, Arthur Dalton sat alone at the head of a long mahogany table. He looked twenty years older. His suit was rumpled, his hair messy, his hands shaking as he poured himself a glass of straight bourbon.

When the heavy iron doors opened, Mireia walked in, wearing a dark red leather trench coat over a sleek black jumpsuit. Darius walked beside her, his hand resting casually inside his jacket pocket.

Arthur looked up, his bloodshot eyes locking onto his daughter with pure, poisonous rage.

“You ruined me, Mireia,” Arthur rasped, his voice trembling with hatred. “You destroyed sixty years of family legacy for a mobster!”

“You ruined yourself, Arthur,” Mireia replied coldly, sitting down at the far end of the table across from him. “You murdered my mother for a trust fund, used me as a corporate pawn, and tried to marry me off to a pathetic liar. You brought this on your own head.”

Arthur let out a cold, raspy laugh. “Your mother was a fool who didn't understand how the real world works! And you are just like her!”

He slammed his heavy fist onto the table.

Suddenly, four side doors around the dining room burst open simultaneously!

Eight heavily armed men wearing dark tactical gear and carrying suppressed submachine guns flooded the room, aiming their weapons straight at Mireia and Darius!

Arthur stood up, a twisted, maniacal grin spreading across his pale face.

“Did you really think I’d let you take my company, Mireia?!” Arthur shouted wildly. “This building is entirely isolated! The security feeds are looped! Once you and your precious mob husband are dead, I will present your signed trust transfers to the Zurich courts and claim my rightful fortune!”

Mireia didn't flinch. She didn't scream. She didn't even drop her gaze from her father’s face.

Beside her, Darius let out a long, slow sigh of pure disappointment.

“Arthur,” Darius said softly, tapping a button on his encrypted wristwatch. “You are an amateur.”

Before the mercenaries could react, the heavy reinforced glass windows surrounding the dining room exploded inward in a shower of glittering safety glass!

Flashbang grenades bounced across the floorboards, detonating with terrifying, deafening BANGs of white light and thunder!

Villano Syndicate snipers positioned on the adjacent roof structures opened fire with surgical precision! Through the smoke, dark tactical operatives swung through the shattered windows, disarming and neutralizing Arthur’s mercenaries in less than twelve seconds without a single wasted shot!

When the smoke cleared, all eight of Arthur’s men were lying on the floor, disarmed and bound in heavy steel zip-ties.

Arthur stood frozen near the head of the table, his eyes wide with absolute, horrifying terror, a loaded pistol slipping from his trembling hand and clattering uselessly against the floor.

Darius stepped forward, pulling a handkerchief from his pocket and casually wiping a trace of glass dust from his cuff.

“Your security team was hired from a third-tier cartel firm in Miami, Arthur,” Darius noted dryly. “They took ten thousand dollars from my captain three hours ago to leave their safety catches on.”

Mireia stood up slowly, stepping over the shattered glass until she stood directly in front of her father.

She reached into her coat pocket and pulled out a single legal document, dropping it onto the wet mahogany table in front of him.

“Sign it, Arthur,” Mireia commanded coldly.

Arthur looked down at the document with shaking eyes. “What... what is this?”

“A full confession detailing your involvement in my mother’s death in Geneva, along with a complete surrender of your remaining voting shares in Dalton Enterprises,” Mireia said, her voice unyielding as iron. “Sign it, and Darius will allow you to spend the rest of your life in a high-security federal prison.”

“And if I don't?” Arthur croaked, looking up into her pale blue eyes.

Darius stepped up behind Mireia, sliding his hand gently onto her waist, looking down at Arthur with eyes that promised pure, unimaginable torment.

“If you don't, Arthur,” Darius whispered softly, “I will personally take you down to the harbor docks. And you will discover what happens to men who threaten my wife.”

May you like

Arthur stared at the mob king, then at his daughter. He realized with a sickening, final horror that he had lost everything.

With trembling fingers, Arthur picked up a pen and signed his name at the bottom of the confession.
