Chapter 8 - The Renewal of the Crescent

One month later.

The city of Geneva, Switzerland, was covered in a pristine blanket of white winter snow.

The grand courtyard of the Crescent Private Estate—a magnificent nineteenth-century stone chateau overlooking Lake Geneva—was quiet, surrounded by towering pine trees and snow-capped mountains.

Mireia stood on the grand balcony of the master suite, wearing a warm cream wool sweater and dark trousers, holding a steaming mug of hot chocolate. The air was crisp, clean, and smelled of pine needles and woodsmoke.

Behind her, the balcony doors opened softly.

Darius stepped out, wearing a charcoal wool coat, wrapping his broad arms around her waist from behind, pulling her close against his warm chest. He buried his face in the curve of her neck, pressing a soft kiss against her skin.

“The Zurich banking board completed the audit twenty minutes ago, Mrs. Villano,” Darius whispered smoothly into her ear. “The Crescent Sovereign Trust has been fully restored to your sole personal administration. Seventy billion dollars in global assets are officially under your name.”

Mireia leaned her head back against his shoulder, letting out a long, peaceful breath that turned to white mist in the cold air.

“Seventy billion dollars,” she murmured softly. “My mother fought so hard to protect this.”

“And you won it back,” Darius said, his grip around her waist firming with deep, unwavering pride. “Your mother would be immensely proud of the queen you have become.”

Mireia turned around in his arms, looking up into his handsome face. The hazel eyes that had once terrified her now held only absolute devotion, warmth, and a fierce, burning passion that made her heart soar.

“What about you, Darius?” Mireia asked gently, reaching up to stroke his jawline, her fingers brushing against the faint scar on his cheek. “Your family’s name has been cleared. The trust has restored your grandfather’s administrative legacy. You have everything you wanted.”

Darius looked down into her pale blue eyes, his expression shifting from a formidable syndicate lord to a man who was deeply, hopelessly in love.

“I don't have everything I want yet, Mireia,” he whispered softly.

Mireia smiled, a brilliant, breathtaking radiance lighting up her face. “Oh? And what else could the great Darius Villano possibly want?”

Darius reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a small velvet box.

He popped it open.

Inside rested a stunning, custom-crafted ring made of pure platinum, featuring a brilliant five-carat oval blue diamond flanked by two carved crescent moons—a masterpiece that made her old engagement ring look like a cheap piece of glass.

“Our marriage started as an alliance of convenience, Mireia,” Darius said, his voice thick with raw, intense emotion as he looked into her eyes. “A contract born out of vengeance and business. But every second I have spent beside you, watching your strength, your brilliant mind, your magnificent heart... I have fallen completely, hopelessly in love with you.”

He took her left hand in his, his large fingers trembling slightly with rare nervousness.

“I don't want a contract anymore, Mireia,” Darius promised gently. “I want a real marriage. I want a real life with you. Will you stay with me—not as my business partner, but as my wife, my equal, and the love of my life?”

Tears of pure, radiant joy welled in Mireia’s eyes as she looked at the man who had pulled her out of the darkness and given her the world.

She didn't answer with words.

She reached up, wrapped her arms around his neck, and pulled him down into a deep, passionate kiss that sealed their hearts forever under the snow-covered Swiss sky.
