PART 2: THE SECRET INSIDE THE MUSIC BOX

Alexander didn’t know whether to be angry or confused.

His mother had lived a very private life.

She had no grandchildren.

No secret relationships.

No forgotten family members.

At least, that was what he believed.

“You need to leave,” Alexander said.

The boy’s eyes filled with tears.

“I just wanted to keep my promise.”

“What promise?”

The boy looked down at the music box.

Then slowly opened it.

Ting...

A soft melody filled the room.

It was old.

Gentle.

Almost like a memory from another lifetime.

The nurses stopped moving.

One doctor looked up from his tablet.

The song continued.

And something strange happened.

The heart monitor changed.

Not dramatically.

Just enough.

A small movement.

A tiny shift.

The doctor stepped closer.

“Wait.”

Everyone turned toward Eleanor.

Her hand.

Her fingers moved.

Just slightly.

Alexander froze.

“Mom?”

The boy stood completely still.

The music box kept playing.

The melody seemed to pull something from the deepest part of Eleanor’s mind.

A memory.

A person.

A promise.

The woman who had been silent for weeks suddenly moved her lips.

No sound came out.

Alexander rushed closer.

“Mom, can you hear me?”

Her eyelids trembled.

The entire room held its breath.

Then slowly...

Eleanor opened her eyes.

A tear rolled down her cheek.

Everyone stared.

The doctors had no explanation.

The nurses whispered in shock.

But Eleanor wasn’t looking at them.

She wasn’t looking at her son.

She was looking only at the boy.

The boy who stood near the door holding the music box.

Her lips trembled.

As if she was trying to remember something she had buried for years.

Then she whispered:

“You came.”

The boy started crying.

“I told you I would.”

Alexander looked between them.

His confusion turned into fear.

“Mom…”

His voice shook.

“Who is he?”

Eleanor slowly reached out her hand.

May you like

And said:

“Bring him closer.”
