Chapter 4 - The Transformation

The Valenti Villa was an imposing fortress of gray stone, wrought iron, and bulletproof glass perched on the high cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
By ten o'clock the following morning, Brielle awoke in a massive master suite featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, dark mahogany furniture, and a king-sized bed wrapped in Egyptian cotton sheets.
Her old server’s uniform was gone.
In its place, a mobile clothing rack held fifty custom-tailored designer outfits—flowing silk blouses, structured trousers, cashmere sweaters, and elegant evening gowns—all brought to the estate by top Italian stylists whom Nico had summoned at dawn.
A soft knock echoed at the bedroom door.
“Come in,” Brielle called out, sitting up on the soft pillows.
The door opened, and a tall, polished woman in her late forty enters. It was Sophia, the estate’s head housekeeper and security coordinator.
“Good morning, Miss Dawson,” Sophia said warmly, carrying a tray with fresh fruit, warm croissants, and dark coffee. “Mr. Valenti requested that I bring you breakfast and inform you that your presence is requested in the main study at eleven.”
Brielle swung her legs over the side of the bed, looking nervously at the rack of high-end clothes. “Sophia... none of these clothes look like they’ll fit me. I’m a size sixteen. Most designer brands don't make—”
Sophia smiled gently, setting the tray down on the table. “Mr. Valenti gave the designers your exact measurements personally, Miss Dawson. He explicitly ordered them to craft clothes that highlight your beauty, not hide it. He told the head tailor that if a single stitch felt uncomfortable on you, he would buy their fashion house and fire the staff.”
Brielle’s mouth opened slightly in disbelief. She stood up and walked over to the rack. She touched a deep emerald cashmere sweater, feeling its incredible softness. For years, she had settled for dark, baggy clothes designed to make her look smaller, to help her fade into the background.
She picked out a tailored burgundy silk shirt and high-waisted black trousers. When she put them on, she stared at herself in the full-length mirror. The clothes hugged her natural curves flawlessly, emphasizing her narrow waist and full hips without a single line of strain.
She looked powerful. She looked regal.
At eleven o'clock, Brielle walked down the grand marble staircase to Nico’s private study.
Nico sat behind a heavy oak desk, reviewing financial reports on an encrypted tablet. He wore a crisp white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up, revealing faint dark tattoos etched along his forearms.
He looked up as she entered. For a brief second, his dark eyes dilated, a rare flicker of raw appreciation passing over his features.
“You fit the crest well, Brielle,” Nico said smoothly, standing up from his desk.
“Nico,” Brielle began, using his first name for the first time, her voice firm. “If I’m staying here, I need to know what you expect from me. Is this a political game? Are you using me to insult the Kensington family?”
Nico walked around his desk, stopping two feet from her.
“The Kensington family attempted a hostile takeover of my port shipping lines last month,” Nico admitted calmly. “Miranda pushing you was an attempt to assert dominance in my presence. But my reaction was not a political stunt, Brielle.”

He reached out, his warm fingers brushing against the edge of the platinum signet ring on her left hand.
“I saw a woman of unmatched grace and inner iron being trampled by arrogant fools,” Nico whispered, his hazel eyes locking onto hers with intense authenticity. “I gave you my ring because you deserve to rule, not serve. Tonight, we host the Valenti Syndicate Council. And you will sit at my right hand.”
