Chapter 2 - The Camera Above the Door

Isabella stared at Dr. Reyes.
“What?”
The older man stepped inside.
Marcus remained beside Khloe.
“The camera,” Gabriel said.
Isabella’s face tightened.
“What camera?”
Gabriel looked upward.
“There.”
A small black lens was positioned above the doorway.
Isabella’s eyes followed his gaze.
For the first time that night, she looked afraid.
She had locked the door.
She had checked the hallway.
She had chosen a private suite.
She had believed privacy meant safety.
She had forgotten something.
Hospitals watched everything.
Not because they expected betrayal.
But because emergencies happened.
Gabriel looked toward the security supervisor.
“Preserve the footage.”
“Yes, Doctor.”
Isabella stepped forward.
“No.”
Everyone looked at her.
She quickly corrected herself.
“I mean… there must be some mistake.”
Gabriel stared.
“There is.”
His voice remained calm.
“You thought nobody would see you.”
Khloe suddenly gasped.
Marcus turned immediately.
“Khloe?”
Pain crossed her face.
“The baby moved.”
Gabriel stepped toward her.
“Good.”
But his expression remained serious.
“We’re taking her upstairs.”
Marcus lifted Khloe carefully.
Isabella followed.
“I should come.”
Marcus stopped.
He turned.
“No.”
She stared at him.
“Marcus—”
“Do not follow us.”
The words were quiet.
May you like
That made them worse.
