Chapter 10 - The Sovereign's Queen

Six months later.

The Grand Cathedral of St. Peter was decorated with thousands of fresh white orchids and floating candles.

The wedding was the event of the decade, attended by dignitaries, international diplomats, and business titans from around the globe. But despite the grand scale of the event, inside the cathedral, it felt intensely private, sacred, and deeply personal.

Nora walked down the long, red-carpeted aisle on the arm of her proud uncle, wearing a custom lace gown with a sweeping ten-foot train. Her face was covered by a sheer veil, but her radiant smile shone through clearly for everyone to see.

At the altar stood Dante Vane.

He wore a tailored black tuxedo, looking impeccably handsome, his eyes locked onto her with a fierce, intense devotion that made every person in the congregation hold their breath.

When Nora reached the altar, Dante stepped forward, lifting her veil gently over her head. His fingers brushed against her cheek, his touch as soft as velvet.

“You take my breath away,” he whispered in a voice meant only for her.

“You carry my heart,” she whispered back.

The priest began the ceremony, reading the ancient vows of protection, love, and eternal partnership. When the moment came for the exchange of rings, Dante slipped a solid platinum band onto her finger, looking directly into her eyes.

“With this ring,” Dante swore, his deep voice carrying through the quiet cathedral, “I give you my life, my honor, and my empire. I promise to protect you from every shadow, to cherish you through every storm, and to love you until my final breath.”

Nora slid a matching band onto his finger, her voice strong, clear, and filled with absolute trust.

“With this ring, I give you my heart, my soul, and my future. I promise to stand at your side, to share your burden, and to love you through all eternity.”

“By the power vested in me,” the priest declared, “I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.”

Dante didn't wait. He pulled Nora into his arms, dipping her slightly as his lips met hers in a powerful, passionate kiss that sent a wave of loud applause and cheering echoing through the grand marble vaulted ceiling of the cathedral.

Hours later, the sun was setting over the ocean as a private helicopter carried the new Mr. and Mrs. Vane toward their private island in the Caribbean for their honeymoon.

Nora leaned her head against Dante’s broad shoulder, watching the twinkling lights of the city fade away into the distance behind them. She reached down, intertwining her fingers with his heavy, ringed hand.

She remembered the terrified woman who had stood trembling in a dark, cold parking garage six months ago, trapped in a nightmare with a violent coward. She remembered the fear, the pain, and the absolute hopelessness.

And then she looked at the magnificent, powerful man sitting beside her—the man who had stepped out of the shadows, broken her chains, built her an empire, and given her a love so vast and absolute that it had rewritten her entire destiny.

Dante looked down at her, sensing her thoughts. He lifted her hand to his lips, pressing a soft kiss against her knuckles.

“What are you thinking, my Queen?” he asked softly.

Nora smiled, leaning up to press her lips against his jawline.

“I’m thinking,” she whispered, looking into his slate-gray eyes with pure, overflowing love, “that entering the shadows with you was the best decision of my life.”

Dante smiled, wrapping his heavy arm around her shoulders, pulling her flush against his chest as their helicopter flew into the golden sunset over the open sea.
