PART 2 — Daniel Discovers the Hidden Plan

PART 2 — Daniel Discovers the Hidden Plan
For several seconds…
Nobody moved.
The room that had once been filled with Margaret’s confidence became completely silent.
Daniel stood in the doorway.
His eyes were fixed on the scene in front of him.
His wife on the floor.
The papers scattered everywhere.
The medicine cup rolling slowly until it stopped near his shoe.
And his mother…
Standing there.
Not helping.
Not apologizing.
Just watching.
“Mom…”
Daniel’s voice was different now.
Not angry.
Not yet.
Just shocked.
“What happened?”
Margaret recovered first.
She always did.
That was what made her dangerous.
She adjusted her robe.
Straightened her shoulders.
And immediately became the victim.
“Daniel.”
Her voice trembled.
“You came home at the wrong moment.”
Ava looked up from the floor.
She couldn’t believe it.
Even now.
Even after everything.
Margaret was still trying to control the story.
“Daniel…”
Ava reached for him.
But Margaret interrupted.
“She became upset.”
Daniel looked at Ava.
“Upset?”
Margaret nodded.
“She refused her medication.”
Ava’s eyes widened.
“That’s not true.”
Margaret continued as if she hadn’t spoken.
“She became emotional.”
“She pushed the chair.”
“I tried to calm her down.”
Daniel looked at the bruises on Ava’s arm.
Then at Rosa.
“Did she fall?”
Rosa hesitated.
Ava looked at her.
She knew.
Rosa was afraid.
Because everyone who challenged Margaret eventually learned what happened.
But Rosa stepped forward.
“No.”
Margaret’s face changed.
“Rosa.”
The warning in her voice was obvious.
But Rosa continued.
“She didn’t fall.”
Daniel looked at her.
“Then what happened?”
Rosa swallowed.
“Mrs. Margaret forced the papers on her.”
The room went silent.
Daniel turned slowly toward his mother.
“Is that true?”
Margaret laughed softly.
A strange laugh.
Like she was disappointed.
“After everything I’ve done for you…”
“Mom.”
Daniel’s voice hardened.
“Answer me.”
She stared at him.
And for the first time…
She realized he wasn’t automatically taking her side.
“No.”
She shook her head.
“She’s manipulating you.”
Ava closed her eyes.
Of course.
The same accusation.
Always.
The injured person was the problem.
The person being controlled was the difficult one.
Daniel stepped closer.
He picked up one of the papers from the floor.
His eyes moved across the page.
Then stopped.
His face changed.
“What is this?”
Margaret stayed quiet.
Daniel looked up.
“This isn’t temporary.”
No answer.
He read more.
“This gives you complete authority.”
Silence.
“Over Ava’s finances.”
A pause.
“Her medical decisions.”
Another pause.
“Her company shares.”
His expression became colder.
“Even her property.”
Margaret finally spoke.
“It’s protection.”
Daniel looked at her.
“Protection?”
“Yes.”
“She’s my wife.”
“And she’s vulnerable.”
The word hung in the air.
Daniel’s jaw tightened.
“She is injured.”
Margaret nodded.
“Exactly.”
Ava felt a pain deeper than her physical injuries.
Because Margaret said it like it was proof.
Like being hurt meant losing rights.
Daniel looked at the signature line.
Empty.
Then at Ava.
“She didn’t sign.”
Rosa answered quietly.
“No.”
Margaret’s eyes narrowed.
“She would have.”
Ava stared at her.
“What?”
Margaret looked directly at her.
“You would have eventually.”
Ava felt cold.
“Because everyone breaks.”
Daniel heard that.
And something inside him shifted.
Because that wasn’t a mother trying to help.
That was someone admitting the plan.
Daniel helped Ava back into her wheelchair.
His hands were gentle.
But his face was full of guilt.
“I’m sorry.”
Ava looked away.
The words she had wanted to hear for months.
Finally came.
But they didn’t fix anything.
“Sorry for what?”
Daniel froze.
Ava looked at him.
“For not believing me?”
“For letting her take over our home?”
“For watching me disappear?”
He swallowed.
“I didn’t know.”
“That’s the problem.”
Her voice shook.
“You never wanted to know.”
Daniel had no answer.
Because she was right.
He remembered every moment.
Every time Ava tried to explain.
Every time he said:
“You’re stressed.”
“You’re overthinking.”
“Mom is only helping.”
Every time he chose comfort over truth.
And now he saw the result.
His wife was sitting in front of him.
Broken.
Not because of the accident.
Because he abandoned her emotionally.
Margaret watched them.
And she realized something.
She was losing.
Not because Ava had won.
Because Daniel was starting to think for himself.
That was unacceptable.
She stepped forward.
“Daniel, you need to understand.”
He turned.
“What?”
“Everything I did was for you.”
A pause.
“For our family.”
He looked at her.
“Did you drug my wife?”
The question shocked everyone.
Even Margaret.
Ava looked at him.
Because she had wondered the same thing.
The medicine.
The confusion.
The exhaustion.
The moments where she couldn’t remember conversations.
Margaret’s face changed.
“How dare you?”
Daniel didn’t move.
“Answer.”
“No.”
She looked offended.
“I would never.”
Rosa looked down.
Ava noticed.
A tiny reaction.
But enough.
Daniel noticed too.
“Rosa?”
The housekeeper looked nervous.
“What?”
“Tell me.”
Rosa looked at Margaret.
Then at Daniel.
“I…”
Margaret stepped forward.
“That’s enough.”
“No.”
Daniel’s voice was firm.
“Let her speak.”
Rosa took a breath.
“The medicine changed.”
Ava’s heart stopped.
“What?”
Rosa looked at her.
“The bottles.”
“I noticed.”
A pause.
“Mrs. Margaret told me not to mention it.”
Daniel stared.
“What do you mean changed?”
Rosa’s voice lowered.
“The pills were different.”
Silence.
Ava remembered.
The dizziness.
The confusion.
The strange dreams.
The feeling that her own mind was slipping away.
Daniel looked at his mother.
His face was no longer confused.
It was horrified.
“Mom…”
Margaret stayed silent.
And silence was an answer.
Daniel stepped back.
“I trusted you.”
Margaret’s expression softened.
“Daniel.”
“No.”
He shook his head.
“I trusted you with her.”
A pause.
“And you used that.”
Margaret’s face hardened.
“You think she loves you?”
Ava looked at her.
“What?”
Margaret smiled bitterly.
“She married you because of your name.”
Daniel stared.
“That’s not true.”
“Isn’t it?”
She pointed at Ava.
“Ask her.”
“Ask why she never told you everything.”
Ava frowned.
“What are you talking about?”
Margaret smiled.
Because finally…
She had something.
A secret.
Something even Ava didn’t know.
“You want the truth?”
She looked at Daniel.
“Your wife isn’t who you think she is.”
Daniel looked at Ava.
Confusion returned.
Margaret continued.
“She lied about her past.”
A pause.
“She lied about why she married you.”
Ava felt her stomach drop.
Because this time…
She knew something was coming.
Something she had hidden.
Not from Daniel.
From everyone.
Margaret walked to the table.
Picked up a folder.
And placed it down.
“This is why she never wanted you to investigate.”
Daniel looked at it.
“What is it?”
Margaret smiled.
“Proof.”
Ava’s hands went cold.
Because she recognized the folder.
It belonged to her.
A private file.
Something that should have been locked away.
Something only three people knew existed.
Ava.
Her lawyer.
And…
Someone else.
Someone who had betrayed her.
Daniel opened the folder.
The first page made him stop.
His eyes moved.
Then slowly lifted toward Ava.
“Ava…”
May you like
His voice changed.
“What is this?”
